As i type this I'm watching the Gamespot live gameplay marathon for the new World of Warcraft expansion pack. Watching these Gamespot employs play it is making me want to play again (i miss my Druid), so mission accomplished there.
Last night i decided to buy Bionic Commando from this Direct to Drive service, and I'm pretty impressed with it. The downloader was not intrusive, and i don't have to fire up a program (like Steam) to run the game. I thought i would since these days of pirates have made things harder for developers and legitimate customers.
I had actually picked up the PC version of Resident Evil 4 a few weeks ago because of a mod i seen posted on Digg, it improves the quality of the games textures. Since i had never played a Resident Evil game before i figured this would be a good place to start, and the game works great with the 360 controller. I even found a mod that shows the proper 360 button images for the context sensitive areas of the game. This is why i fucking love the PC has a gaming platform.
Oh and i picked up AudioSurf last night. I did not really like it the first time i played it, but i decided to try it again now that i can use my 360 controller, and holy fuck am i impressed. It controls wonderfully with a gamepad and it even has rumble support!
The 360 controller has finally brought a standard to the PC. Now i missed out on the joystick phase (when space-sims were a popular genre) so my experiance with computer controllers have ALWAYS been truely awful. Setting them up to work with a game was always hit or miss, and even if you got it to work the way you wanted it never felt has good as the "real thing". With the 360 controller that is no longer the case. I don't even have to set the thing up to work with games, i just turn it on and it works. It's simply a god-send, and its improved the experiance of gaming on the PC ten-fold for me.
