It's interesting to see just how much the gaming community hates Uwe Boll. I mean they REALLY hate him.
Uwe Boll makes movies based on video game franchises. Terrorists talking about how many virgins they will get? Yeah, he's not even remotely funny or entertaining. Basically he takes a video game, pulls his pants down, proceeds to drop fecal matter on a film strip, and than shows it to a audience in a theater.
Now i provided a youtube link to a trailer of his latest movie Postal. I have not seen this movie (or any of his movies), nor have i played Postal. However, and call this just a *hunch*, making a movie based on a game that Gamespot says is "irreverent and gruesome to say the least, not to mention a little disturbing." does not sound like the greatest idea.
What does Uwe Boll have to say about Postal?
"POSTAL is a necessary wake up call and we make fun in that movie about everybody. We blame the stupid Islam Extremists as retards and I portrait myself as a Nazi - so there are no rules we are not breaking. Where are the times where a movie like LIFE OF BRIAN was made? It was time for POSTAL and you know it and I know it." -Uwe Boll
Spelling aside (give the guy a break, English is not his native tongue), i don't think he really gets exactly why people hate his movies.
I was already fooled into seeing DooM in theaters (I still think that the 4 minute first person scene was kind of neat though) so i decided to swear off any game to movie adoptions. Because of this i will not sign that petition, i have not seen any of Uwe Bolls movies, it would simply not be fair for me to sign it.
What is Uwe Bolls secret you might ask? How on earth does a man, so widely hated by the very community he is trying to make movies for, continue to finance his projects? Well, I'll let Uwe explain that one:
"Maybe you know it but it's not so easy to finance movies in total. And the reason I am able to do these kind of movies is I have a tax shelter fund in Germany, and if you invest in a movie in Germany you get basically fifty percent back from the Government."
So there you have it. I'll leave you with one more insightful comment from Boll:
"My performance in Postal as 'Nazi Theme Park Owner' outperforms easily Ben Kingsley in Schindler's List!"
