Fallout 3, Games For Windows Live

As I predicted I broke down and purchased Fallout 3 on Steam. I was surprised to see I could sync Fallout 3 up with my X-box live account, I’ve known about that feature for some time, but I was under the impression that it was exclusive to Vista (I run XP). I don't know why, but I found this feature to be incredibly cool and I would love to see it in other games (why doesn't FarCry 2 have it?).

I've played a little over 12 hours so far. I decided on playing with the gamepad for analog movement.  I'm already far more interested in the games world that I was with Oblivion. I was reluctant to pick Fallout 3 up simply because I was not very happy with Oblivion. With Oblivion I felt like the world was incredibly sterile, that's definitely not the case with Fallout. All of the NPCs feel very unique and interesting.

The character I’m playing actually has zero points put into combat, I’ve been working more toward the social side of this game, which is the thing I find most interesting about the game. I do enjoy the combat (I like VATS, and I don't mind the real time shooting) but I’ve found that the other portions of the game (science, conversation, and sneaking to name a few) to be more enjoyable.

I just logged into my live account on Fallout 3 to see that they updated the interface to something a little more consistent with the windows UI. I like it a lot, more than I probably should. For some reason I just find this whole windows/X-box connectivity to be super cool. Being able to chat with friends on their X-box is really cool, and even though I’ve conditioned myself to stop caring about achievements the fact that they sync up with my profile is a great feature. I really want to see more of this.
