Fallen Empire: Legions

Tribes 2 was the first PC game i owned, it also happened to be the first online game i had ever played so this game has a very special place in my heart. Three years after the release of Tribes 2 came Tribes: Vengeance, a game that never got very popular and many fans say had changed the game to be closer to the original Starsiege Tribes.

I've played a lot of first person shooters since Tribes 2, however, none of them have ever given me the joy that Tribes had. Tribes was mostly noted for its Jet Packs and the ability to ski(and having 64 players on one map), you could build up a ton of momentum with the right amount of thrust from your jet packs while you slid around on slopes:

InstantAction received some coverage from 1up a few days ago, one thing i noticed was their preview on Fallen Empires: Legion which will debut on said site. InstantAction is a site that plans to take gaming on your web browser seriously and from what i have seen of Fallen Empires they will succeed. This game is not only a spiritual successor to Tribes, some of the people working on it actually worked on Tribes. It's hard to get a grasp for why Tribes' blend of Jet Packs and skiing worked so well from simply seeing videos of it, you really have to play it yourself and get a feel for the physics to understand.

There's a video demonstrating the new engine:

The game has a really nice look to it, there is tons of foliage on the ground that smooths out the natural landscape, and when you consider that this is all being down in a web browser you can't help but feel a little impressed.
